本研究在对话构式语法框架下,结合儿童语言数据交流系统(CHILDES)中3—6岁说普通话的健康儿童与同龄对话伙伴的对话文本,分析了儿童对话中话语重复的认知特征。研究发现,儿童话语重复(自我重复和重复他人)不是被动的、简单的、无意义的语言模仿,而是儿童在语言能力发展和人际互动中的话语建构策略,即选择性复用先前的语言资源以建构自己的话语。儿童话语重复具有结构平行、语义类比和功能映射特征,本质上体现了局部对话中浮现的临时对话构式的结构与功能特征。儿童在对话中基于语言建构语言,主要通过建构对话构式及其网络来拓展对话语篇。
Abstract:
Within the theoretical framework of dialogic construction grammar and with the data support of dialogues between Mandarin-speaking children (aged 3-6) retrieved from Child Language Data Exchange System, this study investigates the cognitive properties of utterance repetitions (self-repetitions and other-repetitions) in children’s conversations, assuming that repetitions do not simply suggest children’s passive language imitation skills that are traditionally regarded as being non-sense in communication, but the fundamental strategy children employ in dialogue to construct their utterances. That is, in dialogic interaction when a child speaker borrows and selectively re-uses the language resources applied by previous child speaker, parallel syntactic structures are displayed in the linguistic communication. Based on the syntactic parallelisms, the semantic analogies and the functional mappings between utterances can also be detected, then locally entrenched dialogic constructions emerging in child-to-child’s conversations. In this sense, the study concludes that in local dialogic discourses, children take language to make language, mainly based on the structuring of dialogic construction and its network, to construct their utterances and further develop the conversation.
