背称是称谓系统的重要组成部分,在言语交际中广泛使用,具有引起注意、建构语用身份、调节人际关系等语用功能。本研究结合语言顺应论,采用个案研究的方法探究了高校行政人员下级对上级的背称类型、形式及其语用机制。研究结果表明:1)高校行政人员常用的背称包括姓名类背称和职衔类背称两类,后者在前者的基础上拓展而来。职衔类背称的使用频率远高于姓名类背称,且形式更加多样化。2)高校行政人员在元语用意识的指导和调控下,策略性地选择背称以顺应语境。相对而言,高校行政人员对交际语境的关注度要高于语言语境。
Abstract:
Indirect addresses are widely used in verbal communication, and perform such pragmatic functions as attracting attention, constructing pragmatic identity, and regulating interpersonal relationships. This paper conducts a case study on indirect addresses in use from administrative subordinates to superiors in universities within the Framework of Linguistic Adaptability, aiming to explore the types and forms of indirect addresses and the pragmatic mechanism behind them. The study reveals that two types of indirect addresses are used, namely indirect addresses of name and indirect addresses of rank. The latter is an extension of the former, and is used more frequently than the former. Administrative staff in universities are guided and regulated by metapragmatic awareness, and choose indirect addresses to adapt to the context. They relatively pay more attention to the social world of communicative context than linguistic context.
