课文讲解是我国高中英语教师十分熟悉的教学场景,也是学生英语学习的主要环境。高中英语教学的特点之一是以显性教学为主,因此,教师需要有足够的语言意识和语言聚焦操作技能。本研究以我国某地区9位高中英语教师(按教龄分为3组)为研究对象,采用实验研究的方法考察了他们在课文讲解中实施语言聚焦教学策略的情况。研究结果表明,大部分教师缺乏自觉开展语言聚焦操作的意识,倾向于以意义为中心的思辨性教学和以预设为中心的语言教学。我国外语教育界应该重视这一现象,并努力提升外语教师的语言意识和语言聚焦操作技能。
Abstract:
Text-based teaching is one of the most common teaching contexts in Chinese high school English teaching. It requires teachers to be suitably equipped with knowledge and skills relating to language awareness and engagement with language in the teaching process. This paper reports a study of nine high school teachers in three groups based on their years of teaching through a focused group experiment. The study finds that almost all of them conduct their teaching by exclusively focusing on meaning and objective-driven processes, avoiding the necessary engagement with language in response to learners’ difficulties in classroom interactions. The findings call for more attention to the needs to raise teachers’ language awareness and improve their skills for engagement with language in the text-based teaching.
