科技文本具有专业性、实用性、客观性、逻辑性等文体特征。在进行科技文本翻译时,译者应尽可能再现这些文体特征,但学生译者由于缺乏实践经验常常会忽视这一点。本研究基于翻译过程的“关联-顺应研究路向”语用学视角,利用自建本科生语料库,使用定性与定量分析相结合的研究方法,统计学生译者的译文错误率,透析学生译者译文语言选择背后的心理动机,并提出相应的解决方法。研究发现,在科技文本翻译过程中,当原文作者传达的信息意图和交际意图一致时,学生译者能较为容易地找出作者试图传达的最大关联和最佳关联;在译文认知语境的不同语言层面进行语言选择时,学生译者必须考虑科技文本的专业语境,注意传达科技文本特有的文体特征,这样才能产出满足译文读者认知和谐的话语,达成与原文作者和译文读者之间的跨文化交际。
Abstract:
Since science and technology articles are professional, practical, objective and logical, translators are required to present these stylistic features as much as possible. Through our observance of their performance in the Science and Technology Translation Course, student translators often ignore the interpretation of stylistic features because of being inexperienced. Guided by Relevance-Adjustability Theoretic Approach, this paper combines qualitative with quantitative methods and uses undergraduate corpus to detect student translators’ translation errors. The thesis reveals problems with undergraduate renderings by tracing back over their cognitive process and attempts to figure out how their minds work while making target linguistic choices. We hold that the author’s informative intention and communicative intention are the same in the science and technology translation so that student translators can find the optimal relevance easily. Moreover, before making choices at different linguistic levels of the target cognitive environment, the student translators must take into consideration specialized contexts of science and technology articles in order to better convey the author’s intentions, thus achieving cross-cultural communication with the author and their target readers.
